Dhokla is a Gujarati snack that is traditionally made with besan. To give it a healthier spin, you can make it with moong dal. Follow this step-wise recipe to whip up a quick and healthy snack.
1 cup whole moong dal ½ cup dahi ¼ cup water 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste 1 tsp sugar ½ tsp salt ½ tsp baking soda 1 tbsp oil Mustard seeds (for tempering) Curry leaves (for tempering) Chopped coriander leaves (for garnish)
Rinse and soak the moong dal overnight. Grind the soaked dal with a little water to make a fine paste.
Mix the paste with dahi, water, ginger-green chilli paste, sugar, and salt. Fold in the baking soda.
Pour the batter into a baking dish and spread evenly. Steam for 10-12 minutes.
Prepare the tempering with oil, mustard seeds, and curry leaves.
Once the dhokla is cooked, pour the tempering over it. Cut into pieces and serve.
