Makhana chaat is a crunchy, flavourful snack made with roasted makhanas (fox nuts), spiced with chaat masala, red chilii powder, and cumin. Topped with tangy tamarinHd and mint chutneys, it’s a healthy, refreshing treat perfect for a quick bite or as a party appetiser.
1 cup makhana (fox nuts) 1 tbsp oil or ghee 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp black salt 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp tamarind chutney 1 tbsp mint chutney 1/2 tsp chaat masala Fresh coriander leaves Pomegranate seeds 1 tbsp lemon juice Salt
Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add makhanas and roast them until they turn crispy and light golden. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
In a large mixing bowl, break the roasted makhanas into smaller pieces. Add black salt, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, and chaat masala. Toss well to coat the makhanas with the spices.
Add tamarind chutney and mint chutney to the makhanas. Mix well to ensure the chutneys coat the makhanas evenly.
Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves, pomegranate seeds, and a squeeze of lemon juice on top. Adjust salt to taste and serve immediately.
