Healthy Bhakri Pizza Recipe For A Quick Yet Filling Snack

Bhakri Pizza offers a unique take on the global dish where the pizza base is replaced with the Indian flatbread Bhakri. It is a simple dish that comes together quickly and makes for a filling snack.

Ingredients

For Bhakri: 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/4 cup semolina (optional) 1-2 tbsp oil or ghee Salt to taste Water, as needed For Toppings: 1/2 cup pizza sauce 1 cup grated cheese Assorted vegetables (bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, olives, mushrooms) 1 tsp Italian herbs 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes (optional) Fresh basil or coriander leaves

Step 1

Mix flour, semolina, oil/ghee, and salt. Add water, and knead into a firm dough. Rest 10-15 mins.

Step 2

Divide dough, and roll into thick discs. Cook on a tawa until golden brown and crisp.

Step 3

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Place bhakri on a baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce, add cheese and veggies. Sprinkle herbs and chilli flakes.

Step 4

Bake 10-15 mins until cheese melts. Garnish with basil/coriander and serve.
