Among the many kitchen hacks that have successfully swayed the internet, the most recent discovery of using rice paper sheets as dumpling or spring roll wrappers have been a great replacement for the flimsy restaurant-style dim sum covers. Tap to see the full recipe.
5-6 rice paper sheets 250 grams prawns, cleaned 1 tablespoon soy sauce ½ tablespoon sesame oil 1 teaspoon grated ginger 2 teaspoons minced garlic 2 spring onions, chopped Salt and pepper, to taste
Soak the rice paper sheets one by one in a basin of room temperature water for 2-3 minutes before dabbing with a dry cloth.
Use your knife to finely chop the prawns and combine with the remaining ingredients.
Cut the rice paper sheet into three equal portions and spoon some of the prawn filling in the centre of each part.
Fold all the corners inwards to seal the filling within the sheet and cook in a bamboo steamer sitting on simmering water for at least 3-4 minutes or pan-fry in some hot oil. Serve hot.
