Fried idli, also known as masala idli, is a savoury snack made with the traditional South Indian dish, idli. If you have got leftover idlis or batter, you can turn them into a delicious snack with this recipe.
4-5 idlis 2 tablespoons cooking oil 1 tablespoon chopped onions 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds 10-15 curry leaves 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder Salt to taste Ketchup or chutney for serving
Take the leftover idlis and cut them into slices or bite-sized pieces.
Heat some oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add curry leaves and fry them.
Add chopped onion and cook till they are golden brown.
Finally, mix in idli pieces with a little red chilli powder and cook till they are crispy.
Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.
