Hariyali Teej 2023: Break Your Fast With Nutritious Quinoa Khichdi

Quinoa is pseudo cereal that is perfect to consume during fasts. Its protein and fibre content helps the body in getting back the lost energy. Here is an easy recipe to make nutrient-rich quinoa khichdi for Hariyali Teej.

Ingredients

¾ cup quinoa, 1 cup moong dal, 1 tbsp ghee, 1 tsp cumin seeds, ⅛ tsp asafetida, ½ tsp turmeric powder, salt or to taste, ½ tsp black pepper, ½ cup chopped cilantro, 4 cups water, chopped vegetables of your choice, lemon juice

Step 1

Heat some ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Then add asafetida, turmeric powder, salt and black pepper. Sauté well.

Step 2

Add any vegetables, if using, and cook well. Then add dal, quinoa and water. Pressure cook for 8 minutes.

Let the pressure release. Top with lemon juice and chopped cilantro. Enjoy.
