Hariyali Teej is a festival celebrating the union of Lord Shiva and Parvati, and is celebrated across many states of India. In Bihar, these are some of the traditional dishes that are specially prepared for the occasion.

Kasaar

These rice flour, jaggery and dry fruits laddoos are flavoured with cardamom and made especially for Teej and Chhath.

Pua

Also known as malpua, these sweet pancakes are made with a banana, wheat flour, sugar, cardamom and dry fruit batter.

Thekua

Made with a dough of wheat flour, jaggery and cardamom, thekua is a deep-fried dish made with beautiful moulds.
