Kada Prashad is a sacred, traditional Indian sweet made from wheat flour, ghee (clarified butter), sugar, and water. It is commonly prepared as an offering in Sikh temples (Gurdwaras) and distributed to devotees after prayers. Making atte ka halwa, or Kada Prashad, at home brings a sense of warmth and tradition to your kitchen.
1 cup whole wheat flour (atta) 1 cup ghee (clarified butter) 1 cup sugar 3 cups water
In a saucepan, boil 3 cups of water. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves completely. Lower the heat to keep the syrup warm while you make the halwa.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, melt the ghee on medium heat. Add the whole wheat flour and begin roasting, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
Roast for 10-15 minutes until the flour turns a rich golden brown colour and gives off a nutty aroma.
Carefully pour the warm sugar syrup into the roasted flour mixture, stirring continuously. The mixture will bubble vigorously, so be cautious. Stir well to combine everything.
Continue stirring until the halwa thickens, becomes glossy, and starts leaving the sides of the pan. Serve warm.
