Gujarati breakfast dishes double up as a snack too most of the times. Be it dhokla, dabeli or more, here’s the regional breakfast platter for you.
The savoury breakfast cake that one cannot miss from the Gujju thali, handvo is made with bottle gourd, carrots and lots of other seasonal veggies. Steam it and enjoy.
The classic Gujarati breakfast combination is a sweet and savoury treat. The former is a deep-fried sweet meat while the latter is a deep-fried crunchy bite made with besan.
Want to have something chatpata for breakfast? Sandwich a potato mixture with some chutney and sev in a pav and top with pomegranate seeds.
Ever heard of the Gujarati omlette? This besan-based pancake is loaded with veggies and cooked on a tawa. Although it’s savoury, sweeter versions are available too.
Juicy and spongy dhoklas are the OG Gujarati treat. Made with the besan, the steamed cakes are cut into small squares and served with mint chutney.
