Gujarat is the home of the well-known crispy Indian snack khakhra. Whole wheat flour, oil, salt, and spices are the ingredients used to make this snack, and It is frequently eaten with yoghurt, pickles, chutney, or as a teatime snack. Here's how to make this snack at home using this recipe:
1 cup whole wheat flour 1 tbsp oil (plus extra for cooking) 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1/4 tsp red chilli powder 1/4 tsp cumin powder Salt to taste Water (as needed)
Prepare a dough using whole wheat flour, salt, spices, and water.
Roll out small portions of the dough into thin, round discs.
Heat a pan or tava (griddle) and place the rolled-out dough on it.
Roast the khakhra on both sides until it turns crisp and golden brown.
You can use a cloth or a wooden pressurizer to help it cook evenly.
The taste of khakhra is quite different from regular rotis; it’s somewhat like biscuits.
