A rewarding and fairly simple way to enjoy fresh garnishes or added to salads, microgreens are a powerhouse of nutrition and good health. With a delicately fresh flavour, microgreens can enhance the appeal and wellness quotient of your everyday meals.
Choose high-quality, organic seeds of broccoli, radish, kale, arugula and mustard greens which are untreated.
Opt for a sterile, soilless medium such as coconut coir, peat moss or vermiculite to provide good aeration and moisture retention necessary for healthy growth.
You can use shallow trays, plastic container, or even recycled food containers as long as they have drainage holes.
Place the microgreensi in a sunny location, preferably near a south-facing window where they receive at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day.
Use a spray bottle to gently water the soil surface as needed since overwatering can lead to fungal issues, while underwatering can hinder growth.
After harvesting, replant your containers with fresh seeds to ensure a continuous harvest by rotating your crops to prevent nutrient depletion in the soil.
