Matar paratha is a flavourful dish the winter season. Made with loads of spices, they can be served with any of your favourite side dish. Here is an easy recipe to make it for your next meal.

2 cups whole wheat flour, salt to taste, 2 tbsp ghee, 1 cup green peas blanched, 1 tbsp oil, 1 onion, ½ inch ginger, 5-6 garlic, a pinch of asafoetida, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder

Place flour, salt and ghee in a mixing bowl and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and set it aside. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.

Sauté onion, ginger and garlic till light brown. Add asafoetida, cumin and chilli powder. Add peas, salt and cook till dry. Let it cool and grind coarsely.

Divide the dough into 8 small portions and stuff it with pea mixture in the centre. Roll into thick parathas.

Heat a tawa and cook paratha on both the sides with ghee. Serve hot with pickle or any of your favourite chutney.
