The word chaatan, which translates from Marathi as to lick something, is a thick, sweet medicinal paste made with commonly found spices in the kitchen. Consuming a spoonful everyday for kids or adults is great for gut health, boosting immunity and fighting against lifestyle-related ailments and common flu.
¼ cup ghee/organic coconut oil ¼ cup organic ground turmeric ½ teaspoon black peppercorns ½ tablespoon ground cardamom 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder 1 tablespoon ginger powder ¼ cup organic honey
Add all the ingredients to a mixer jar and blitz everything until combined.
Using a spatula, scoop out the contents and store in an air-tight jar and keep in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks.
For kids, mix a spoonful in hot milk and serve it to them before bedtime.
If you’re feeling a little adventurous, we highly recommend adding some to your glass of hot toddy.
