Protein is the key nutrient required growing or maintaining muscles, and keeping your skin and hair strong and healthy. It is often believed that vegans or vegetarians do not get enough protein from food. However, that’s not true. They can also get protein from plant sources. Thus, we have collated some protein food that can be consumed by vegans and vegetarians: 

Greek Yogurt 

It is loaded with calcium and gut-friendly probiotics, apart from protein. It can be added to smoothies, layered with fruits and used as a sour cream substitute on tacos or on dips. 

Lentils 

They are a protein powerhouse stuffed in tiny package. Not only they deliver vegan protein, but also a good source of fibre. Fibre is good for your heart, helps keep you full and keep your weight in check. 

Chia Seeds 

They are nutrient dense. They deliver protein, fibre and Omega-3. You can add them in smoothies, make chia seeds jam for toast and bake them. 

Quinoa

This is a unique among plant proteins because it contains all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Quinoa is rich in magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, iron, thiamine and folate. 

Hemp Seeds

Apart from being a good source of protein, they are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. They can be added in smoothies, smoothie bowl or oatmeal 

Tofu 

It is one of the best protein source for vegans. It is formed by coagulating soy milk. It is also a good source of iron and calcium.
