Godhuma Dosa: Tamil-Style Wheat Recipe For A Quick, Light Meal

Godhuma dosa or Gothambu dosa is a twist to the traditional dosa. Godhuma dosa in Tamil translates to wheat dosa is a healthy and savoury South Indian dish that is made of whole wheat flour. It is a quick and easy recipe and can be enjoyed for a nutritious breakfast or a light meal. To make Godhuma dosa, follow these steps:

Ingredients

11 cup whole wheat flour (godhuma pindi) 1/4 cup rice flour 1/4 cup semolina (sooji/rava) 1 onion, finely chopped 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped 1/2 inch ginger, grated 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing) Salt to taste Water, as needed Oil for cooking 

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, rice flour, semolina, chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, grated ginger, asafoetida, and salt. 

Step 2

Gradually add water and mix well to form a smooth batter with a pouring consistency. Let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes. 

Step 3

Heat a tawa and grease it with oil.  Pour a ladleful of batter on the centre and spread it eventually in a circular motion to form a thin dosa. 

Step 4

Drizzle some oil around the edges of the dosa and cook until the bottom turns golden brown and crisp.Flip the dosa and cook the other side until it is cooked lightly browned.

Step 5

Remove the dosa from the skillet and serve hot with coconut chutney, sambar, or any chutney of your choice.
