Bored with traditional uttapams? Try this amazing flavoured and colourful red uttapam. Topped with veggies and spices.
2 Cups idli/ dosa batter 2 small Beetroots 1 Onion, finely chopped 1 small Tomato , finely chopped 1/2 Capsicum, finely chopped 3 Green Chillies, finely chopped Oil for cooking Salt to taste Coriander leaves for garnish
Start by washing the beetroots and in a bowl Grate the beetroots to get thin strands.
Now take the idli/ dosa batter in a bowl. Mix the grated beetroot. Add water and make a batter.
. Keep consistency as desired, slightly thick. As uttapams are more thick than dosa.
Now mix the batter until itâs fluffy and let the air flow in and out to form a nice pinkish batter.
Heat a non stick tawa, grease it with choice of oil. Now using a spoon scoop out batter.
Now form a uttapam on the pan, let it be little thick. On top add the chopped veggies (onions, tomatoes, capsicum, green chillies).
Evenly spread the chopped veggies Sprinkle a little bit of salt. Add more oil to the edges Cover for a few minutes.
And cook until golden brown on both sides. Donât burn the veggies.
Now transfer it on a plate garnish with coriander and serve with coconut chutney.
