Get To Know The Secrets Of Coconut Milk

By Shireen Jamooji

Coconut Milk is an integral part of Indian cuisine, but do you know the different types?  Here's a quick introduction!

First Pressing

Coconut Milk is made by squeezing the liquid from shaved coconut. The thick creamy liquid is called the first pressing.

Second Pressing

To minimise waste, water is added and the coconut flesh is squeezed again which creates a thinner, more liquid milk called the second pressing.

Coconut Cream

When the rich first pressing is mixed with coconut oil, it creates a more dense, almost solid form called coconut cream.
