Tomato Rice: A Wholesome South Indian Meal For Lunch

Tomato rice is a simple South Indian meal where rice is cooked with lots of tomatoes, fresh herbs, whole spices & ground spices.  Here is an easy recipe to prepare at home.

Ingredients

1 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes, 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste, 1 tbsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tbsp jeera, 1 tbsp pepper, 1 bay leaf, 2 cloves, salt as per taste

Step 1

Take a pan and add dry spices and cook it with chopped onions.

Step 2

Once the onions turn soft add the chopped tomatoes with ginger garlic paste, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and mix these well.

Step 3

Once this mix turns a little soft pour in water. Next, add your washed rice and let it cook till the rice is done. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve in a bowl.
