Wondering if the lal chutney is made of hibiscus? This lal chutney is made from roselle blooms, which look similar to hibiscus buds. Roselle blooms are sold in regional markets of Jharkhand during monsoon season, making them a popular delicacy and a choice for chutney.
1 Cup of lal phool 1-2 Green chillies 2-3 Garlic cloves 1-inch piece Ginger Salt to taste 1-2 tablespoons Jaggery or sugar 1 tablespoon lemon juice Water as needed
Wash them and remove the green sepals and any thick stems.

Blend while adding green chillies, garlic, ginger, salt and jaggery (or sugar) to a thick paste.

Add some lemon juice to the mix.

It can be served immediately or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
