Mawa Modak is a delectable sweet made from mawa (khoya), grated coconut, and sugar, flavoured with cardamom and nuts. Shaped into small, traditional modaks these are perfect to offer as prashad on the festive days.

Ingredients

1 cup mawa (khoya) 1/2 cup grated coconut 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup chopped nuts 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)

Step 1

In a non-stick pan, heat ghee. Add the mawa and cook, stirring continuously, until it turns golden and starts to leave the sides of the pan.

Step 2

Mix in the grated coconut and powdered sugar. Cook for a few more minutes until the mixture thickens and starts to come together.

Step 3

Stir in the chopped nuts and cardamom powder. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Transfer the mixture to a plate and let it cool slightly.

Step 5

Once the mixture is cool enough to handle, shape it into small modaks using your hands or a modak mould.

Step 6

Allow the modaks to cool completely before serving.
