Besan ladoo, made from roasted gram flour, ghee, and sugar, is a traditional sweet often offered as prashad during Indian festivals and religious ceremonies. Its rich, nutty flavour and melt-in-the-mouth texture make it a favourite for celebrations.
2 cups Besan (gram flour) 1 cup powdered sugar 1/2 cup ghee 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped nuts
Heat the ghee in a kadhai. Add the besan and begin roasting, stirring continuously to ensure it doesn't burn.
Roast the besan until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. This can take around 15-20 minutes. Remove the pan from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
When the mixture is warm (not hot), add the powdered sugar and cardamom powder and mix.
Add the chopped nuts to the mixture. Take a small portion of the mixture in your hand and shape it into a round ladoo.
Allow the ladoos to cool completely. Once cooled, they will firm up.
Store the besan ladoos in an airtight container. They can be kept at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
