Yoghurt is an essential part of Indian cuisine. It is used with marinades, as a dip, to make sauces or to make complete dishes with them. Yoghurt or curd in Hindi is known as 'dahi.' It is cherished for its tangy and slightly sweet flavour profile and many households in India prepare dahi at their home and it is different from the yoghurt in Western countries.
