Murmura or puffed rice are lightweight ingredients that you can use to make delicious chatpata snacks. Often murmura is just associated with bhel puri, but here are some of the other recipes that you can make with puffed rice.

Murmura Upma

You can use soaked and drained murmura to make a healthy serving of upma. Saute it with cooked onions, curry leaves, mustard seeds, and red chillies.

Murmura Ladoo

Have you tried murmura ladoo? Made with jaggery and ghee, these sweet delights are delicious and give you the ultimate sugar rush.

Murmura Poha

Yes, you read that right. You can make poha using puffed rice by rinsing it and tossing it with potatoes, onions, green chillies, and turmeric powder in a kadhai.

Murmura Porridge

Cook murmura or puffed rice with jaggery, nuts, sugar, cardamom powder and milk. Cook it for a few minutes and enjoy the delight.

Masala Murmura

Toss puffed rice with curry leaves, peanuts, turmeric powder, green chillies, salt, and mustard seeds. It makes for a lightweight snack with evening tea.

Instead of making ladoo, you can make murmura chikki by combining puffed rice with ghee and jaggery.
