Boora, a fine, unrefined powdered sugar used in traditional Indian sweets like laddoos, adds a unique texture and flavour. Making boora at home is simple and requires only a few steps.
Begin by heating regular granulated sugar in a heavy-bottomed pan on low flame, stirring constantly.
Allow the sugar to melt and slightly caramelise, ensuring it doesn’t burn. This step adds the distinctive flavour to boora.
Once the sugar is melted and light brown, pour it onto a flat, cool surface and let it harden completely.
Break the hardened sugar into smaller pieces and grind it into a fine powder using a food processor or blender.
Sieve the powdered sugar to remove lumps and store it in an airtight container for future use.
