Fishy Affair - Steps To Make Bengali Maacher Kalia

Bengalis love to eat fish and they have several lip smacking fish recipes up their sleeves. Let us look at one such recipe, maacher kalia.

Step 1

Fry your rohu fish pieces in mustard oil and keep them aside.

Step 2

In a food processor, grind 1 onion,  1 garlic, 1 tomato, 10 gms ginger, 1 tsp poppy seeds and green chillies. Make a thick paste.

Step 3

Heat up the oil used to fry the fish and add bay leaves and cumin seeds. Now, add the paste.

Step 4

Cook on a medium flame till the oil begins to separate. Now, add water.

Step 5

After cooking for 5 minutes, add your fried fish. Cook on low flame for only 2 mins. Garnish with coriander leaves.
