The authentic South Indian filter coffee needs a percolator. Also, keep a milk pan, brass tumbler, dabarah or bowl, and teaspoon ready!

Pour 4 teaspoons ground coffee into the percolator's upper vessel. Using a teaspoon, spread it evenly and place it on the bottom chamber.

Pour 1 cup of hot water, then set the pressing disc down. Till the coffee decoction percolates in the lower pot, keep it covered.

Heat 3/4 cup of whole or full-fat milk until it begins to boil. Pour 2 teaspoons of sugar into a brass tumbler. Add the milk.

Pour 1/4 to 1/3 cup of brewed coffee into the tumbler, depending on taste. Make it foamy by juggling between davara and tumbler.
