Fiery And Spicy Momo Chutneys To Enjoy With Your Snacks

Momo chutney, a fiery and flavourful dipping sauce, is an essential companion to the popular Tibetan and Nepalese dumplings known as momos. This vibrant sauce, often referred to as "momo ko achar," enhances the taste of the delicate dumplings with its tangy and spicy profile. 

Ingredients

2 large tomatoes 3-4 dried red chillies (adjust according to spice preference) 4-5 cloves of garlic 1-inch piece of ginger 1 tablespoon sesame seeds 1 teaspoon mustard oil Salt to taste Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional) 

Step 1

Begin by roasting the tomatoes and dried red chillies on an open flame or in a hot pan until the skin blisters and chars slightly. This adds a smoky flavour to the chutney. 

Step 2

In a blender, combine the roasted tomatoes and chillies with garlic, ginger, and sesame seeds. Blend until smooth, adding a splash of water if needed to reach your desired consistency. 

Step 3

Heat mustard oil in a small pan until it starts to smoke slightly. Pour the hot oil into the blended mixture and add salt to taste. Mix well to combine. 

Step 4

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves if desired. Serve the chutney alongside steamed or fried momos, and enjoy the burst of flavours.
