This chutney from the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and is noted for its rich and colourful flavours that are sure to tantalise your taste buds.
4 ripe tomatoes, chopped 2-3 dry red chilies 1 tbsp oil 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp urad dal 1 tsp chana dal 1 onion chopped 4-5 garlic cloves tamarind (about 1/2 teaspoon) Salt to taste Fresh coriander
Take a pan and Heat oil, Add the dry red chilies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal.
Now Saute them until the dal turns golden brown. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pan.
Saute until the onions turn translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes, tamarind, and salt. Mix well.
Now Cover the pan and let the mixture cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
Now cool down the mixture and blend it to desired consistency. Serve it in a bowl and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve the Andhra-style tomato chutney with dosas, idlis, rice, or any Indian meal. Enjoy!
