Accidentally added too much salt to your dish? Don’t worry! Here are five simple and effective ways to save your meal.

Add Potatoes

Adding peeled potatoes to the dish can help absorb excess salt. Let them simmer for a while and then remove them before serving.

Mix Dairy

Dairy products like yoghurt, cream, or milk can neutralise the saltiness. Add them gradually and taste until you achieve the desired balance.

Use Sugar

A pinch of sugar or a bit of honey can help counteract the saltiness. Be careful to add it in small amounts to avoid making the dish too sweet.

Dilute with Liquid

Add more water, broth, or another unsalted liquid to dilute the salt concentration in the dish. This works well with soups and stews.

Include Acidic Ingredients

Acidic ingredients like lemon juice, vinegar, or tomatoes can help balance out the saltiness. Add these in small increments, tasting as you go.
