A light and crisp waffle is one of the most delightful treats to wake up to, on a Sunday morning. Make breakfasts special by sprucing up your sweet treat with chocolate chips, fresh fruit, chopped nuts or a healthy drizzle of maple syrup.
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder ½ teaspoon salt 1 ¼ cups whole milk 1/3 cup melted butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Butter and maple syrup, for serving
Preheat your waffle iron while you combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Whisk the milk, butter and vanilla extract in another bowl and pour the wet mixture into the dry.
Fold gently to make a batter, without worrying too much about the lumps in them.
Grease the waffle iron with more butter and ladle in some of the batter before closing it shut.
Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side before flipping and cooking further for 2-3 minutes, until crisp.
Transfer the waffle to a plate and smear it with butter. Serve warm with maple syrup, fruits or toppings of your choice.
