These crunchy, gooey delicious French toast pockets are playful as well as super kid-friendly for them to bite into. From jam to Nutella to ham and cheese, stuff them with all kinds of sweet and savoury fillings.
1 cup milk 3 tablespoons custard powder 2 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder 4 slices white bread 4-5 tablespoons Nutella/jam Butter, for frying
Mix together the custard powder, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Pour the milk in a slow stream and continue to whisk to avoid any lumps and combine thoroughly.
Add the vanilla extract and set aside until ready to use.
Using the back of the spoon, press the centre of a slice of white bread lightly.
Dollop some jam or Nutella in the concaved centre and top up with another slice of bread.
Using a cookie cutter or lid from a jar, cut out the sandwich into roundels.
Dip in the resting custard and fry in butter for 2 minutes on each side.
Serve warm, with a dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
