Pinol: Ecuador Has Its Own Version Of Gurwala Doodh, Tried Yet?

It is said that a man named Rafael Emilio Madrid created Pinol after watching a group of labourers sucking on pieces of panela or whole cane sugar. Panela was mixed with aromatic spices and the drink came to life.  

Ingredients

4-5 big pieces of gur Half cup barley flour 3-4 cloves 1 Tbsp cinnamon powder ½ tbsp ginger 2 cups milk 

Step 1

Take a pan and toast barley flour for a few minutes. Meanwhile, grind pieces of jaggery. 

Step 2

Take another pan, bring milk to boil. Mix it with jaggery and all the spices.

Step 3

Now serve the drink hot in a glass. Make sure you serve it hot.
