Made more pasta sauce than needed? Storing it correctly ensures you can enjoy it later without compromising on taste or texture. Follow these easy steps to store extra pasta sauce.
Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before storing. Hot sauce can create condensation and alter texture during storage.
Use airtight containers or freezer bags, dividing the sauce into portions for easy thawing. Smaller portions also reduce waste.
Label the containers with the date, so you know when to use them before they lose flavour.
For short-term storage (up to 5 days), refrigerate the sauce. For long-term storage, freeze it; it will last up to 3 months.
Thaw frozen sauce in the fridge overnight, and reheat slowly on the stove, stirring occasionally for even consistency.
