Tteokbokki is a staple Korean snack that is made by simmering rice cake. It is a flavourful snack that is usually red in colour and comes with a spicy broth to enhance the taste and texture. Here's a recipe for you to try:

Ingredients

45 g rice cakes (tteok) 3 cups of water 3 tablespoons gochujang 1 tablespoon of gochugaru 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 1 tablespoon of sugar 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1/2 cup fish cakes, sliced 2 green onions, chopped Sesame seeds for garnish

Step 1

Give the rice cakes ten minutes to soak in warm water.

Step 2

Put sugar, garlic, sesame oil, gochujang, and gochugaru in a pot of boiling water.

Step 3

Add fish cakes and rice cakes. Simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring once and again.

Step 4

Cook for a further two minutes after adding the green onions. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds.
