Thattai is a group of popular South Indian deep-fried snacks made up of rice, dal, curry leaves, a variety of spices, and more. Thattai murukku or simply murukku is one of them and this snack is also known as chakli in other parts of India. Here's a quick recipe for you:
1 cup of rice flour 2 tablespoons of urad dal flour 1 tablespoon soaked chana dal 1 tablespoon sesame seeds 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida 1 tablespoon butter or oil 1-2 green chillies Curry leaves Salt to taste Water as needed Oil for frying
Combine rice flour, urad dal flour, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, salt, soaked chana dal, green chillies, curry leaves, and butter or oil.
Add water gradually and knead into a firm dough. Flatten small balls of dough into thin discs.
Deep-fry in hot oil until golden and crispy.
Drain on paper towels, cool completely, and store.
