Easy Steps To Make Amritsari Fish Fry

This crispy, fried fish snack courtesy Amritsar can be a worthy addition to your game nights and house parties. Here's how to make it.

Ingredients - 500 gm boneless fish fillets, 1 tsp red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, ajwain, green chilli paste and lemon juice, ½ tsp coriander powder and dried fenugreek leaves, ¼ tsp black pepper powder and hing, 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste and besan, 3 tbsp curd, 1 tbsp rice flour and mustard oil, and 1 cup neutral oil.

Clean the fish fillets under running water and marinate with ½ tsp salt and turmeric, and lemon juice for 30 minutes.

After the first marination, wash them once again and pat dry.

In a mixing bowl, add the besan, rice flour, red chilli, turmeric, black pepper, coriander powder, salt, hing and mix well.

Add the curd, ajwain, green chilli, ginger-garlic paste, mustard oil, kasuri methi, and lemon juice.

Add the fish fillets and gently mix the pieces, by hand. Cover and marinate this for 15-20 minutes.

While the fish is marinating, heat the oil in a kadhai for deep frying.

Once the oil is hot enough, add in the fish pieces one by one and carefully.

Deep fry them for 9-10 minutes, or until it's golden brown from both sides.
