Podi Masala Dosa is a South Indian delight, featuring crispy dosa filled with spicy potato masala and sprinkled with flavourful podi (spiced powder), perfect for a delicious and satisfying meal.
2 cups dosa batter 1 cup potato masala 2 tablespoons podi (spiced powder) 2 tablespoons oil or ghee 1 onion, finely chopped 1 green chilli, chopped 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 1 teaspoon cumin seeds A few curry leaves Salt to taste
Podi Masala 1/2 cup chana dal (split chickpeas) 1/2 cup urad dal (split black gram) 1/4 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas) 1/4 cup sesame seeds 10-12 dried red chillies 1 tablespoon cumin seeds 1 tablespoon coriander seeds 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing) 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 tablespoon oil Salt to taste
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and chopped onions. Saute until the onions turn golden.
Add boiled, mashed potatoes, green chilli, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
To make podi masala, blend all spices and keep it aside to cool.
Heat a non-stick tawa; pour a ladleful of dosa batter onto the tawa and make dosa.
Drizzle ghee around the edges of the dosa. Cook until the bottom turns golden and crispy.
Sprinkle podi (spiced powder) evenly over the dosa, and add potato masala in the middle of the dosa.
Fold the dosa over the masala and serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar. Enjoy!
