Easy Recipe To Prepare Arhar Dal Without Cooker

Arhar dal is among the most consumed lentils in India. It is nutritious, easy to work with, and delicious. While mostly it is prepared using a pressure cooker, here is a recipe that you can follow if the cookware is dirty or not working.

Ingredients

1 tbsp ghee 1 cup soaked arhar dal Salt to taste 1 tomato ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp jeera 1 chopped green chilli 1 chopped onion 1 tsp red chilli powder

Step 1

Rinse and soak arhar dal in water. 

Step 2

Chop green chilli and onion. Heat ghee in a pan and saute the vegetables.

Step 3

Add turmeric and chopped tomato. Once the tomato is mushy, pour drained arhar dal into the pan.

Step 4

Add water and cover the pan. Let the ingredients cook on a medium flame for 10-15 minutes or until dal is mushy.

Step 5

Prepare the tempering of ghee, cumin seeds, and red chilli powder.

Step 6

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
