With the biggest festivals like Dussehra and Diwali in the days to come, you must be looking for traditional recipes to try at home. To celebrate in style, you can make meethe chawal with this step-by-step recipe.
1.5 cups soaked rice 2.5 tablespoons ghee 1.5 cups sugar 1 cup chopped dry fruits 4 Green cardamom 4 Cloves 1 Cinnamon stick Pinch of saffron Pinch of salt
Boil the soaked rice in water, salt, and 2-3 green cardamoms.
In a separate pan, sputter spices like cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon stick.
Once aromatic, add the cooked rice, saffron, and chopped nuts like almonds, cashew nuts, and raisins.
After everything is mixed, add sugar and cook till it is caramelised.
Keep stirring to coat the rice with sugar syrup.
Garnish with some more chopped dry fruits and serve hot.
