Makhan bada, also known as balushahi or makhan vada is a traditional Indian dessert known for its crispy yet smooth texture. The treat is comparable to a doughnut and is popular in countries like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
1 cup all-purpose flour (maida) 1/4 cup ghee 1/4 cup yoghurt 1/4 tsp baking soda Pinch of salt Oil or ghee for frying
For Sugar Syrup: 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 tsp cardamom powder Few saffron strands (optional)
Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Add ghee, and mix until crumbly. Add yoghurt to form a soft dough. Rest for 30 minutes.
Boil sugar and water until one-string consistency. Add cardamom and saffron.
Shape dough into small balls, flatten, and indent. Fry until golden brown.
Soak fried Makhan Bada in warm syrup for a few minutes. Cool and serve.
