Krapfen is a German doughnut with no hole in the middle, unlike American doughnuts. These buns also feature a sweet jam filling on the inside and are served with powdered sugar on top. Best enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee, this humble delicacy is a must-try. Here's a quick recipe for you:
500g all-purpose flour 7g instant yeast 60g granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 250ml warm milk 2 large eggs 60g unsalted butter, softened Vegetable oil for frying Powdered sugar for dusting Your favourite jam or jelly for filling
Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, eggs, and softened butter.
Knead until the dough is smooth. Let it rise for 1-2 hours.
Roll out dough, cut into circles. Place jam on half the circles.
Seal with remaining circles, forming balls. Let rise for 30-45 minutes.
Fry in hot oil until golden brown (2-3 minutes per side).
Drain on paper towels, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.
