Khoya kheer is one of the most comforting winter desserts made with khoya (mawa), dried fruits, spices and creamy milk. Learn how to make this delightful kheer at home with this simple recipe.
1 liter full-fat milk 200g khoya (mawa), grated ¼ cup rice (soaked) ½ cup sugar ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped almonds, cashews, and pistachios 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
Heat ghee in a pan and add soaked rice. Sauté for a minute then add milk. Bring to a boil on medium heat and stir occasionally.
Once milk is hot, add grated khoya and stir until it dissolves.
Let it simmer for 20 minutes on low heat until rice is cooked and stir to prevent sticking.
Add sugar and spices. Stir to combine.
Once sugar is dissolved, rice is cooked, and mixture is thickened, serve the kheer in bowls and garnish with chopped nuts.
