Easy Homemade Masala Chaas Recipe: Refreshing Indian Buttermilk

Homemade Masala Chaas, also known as Indian buttermilk, is a cooling, spiced beverage made from creamy yoghurt and refreshing seasonings. It’s a popular choice to stay hydrated and refreshed.

Ingredients

1.5 cups Curd (Yogurt) – 375 grams 1 tsp Roasted cumin powder 1 cup Cold water or as needed 1 tbsp Chopped mint leaves or coriander leaves (optional) 5-6 Small ice cubes (optional) ½ tsp Black salt or regular salt 3-4 Mint or coriander sprigs (for garnish)

Step 1

In a blender, add the curd, roasted cumin powder, mint leaves, water, and salt.

Step 2

Blend the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes until everything is well combined. Look for a frothy layer forming on the top with a bit of butter fat.

Step 3

Pour the buttermilk into glasses and garnish with mint or coriander leaves.

Step 4

Serve the Chaas immediately or chill it in the refrigerator before serving.
