A crispy onion ring is a perfect snack to pair with beer, cocktails, and evening tea. The only problem that many home chefs struggle with is getting that impeccable crunch that satisfies the soul. Here is a short guide that will help you make this delightful fritter at home.
1 cup buttermilk 1 large onion ½ cup maida 1 tsp salt 1 large egg 1 cup bread crumbs ½ tsp pepper Oil for frying ½ tsp garlic powder 1 tsp smoked paprika 1 tbsp cornstarch
Peel the onion and slice it whole into concentric circles.
Whisk eggs and buttermilk in a bowl.
Add cornstarch, paprika, pepper, salt, and garlic powder in a blend of maida and cornstarch.
Coat onion rings with spiced mixture, dip in buttermilk-egg concoction, and coat with bread crumbs.
Heat oil in a pan and gently drop onion rings in it.
Deep-fry the rings until they are brown and crispy.
