Dhaniya chutney is a vibrant, green condiment made from fresh coriander leaves, green chillies, and spices. It's a zesty and refreshing accompaniment to most Indian snacks and meals, adding a burst of flavour. This versatile chutney is a staple in Indian kitchens.
1 cup fresh dhaniya (coriander leaves) 1-2 green chillies 1 inch piece of ginger 1-2 cloves of garlic 1 tbsp lemon juice 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp sugar Salt Water
Wash the coriander leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt. Roughly chop the coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger, and garlic.
In a blender, add the chopped coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger, garlic, and cumin seeds. Add the lemon juice, salt, and sugar.
Add a little water (start with 1 tablespoon) and blend until you get a smooth chutney. You can add more water if needed to reach the desired consistency.
Taste the chutney and adjust the salt, lemon juice, or chilies according to your preference.
Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl. You can serve it immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
You can also add a handful of mint leaves for a refreshing twist or a small piece of tamarind for a tangy flavour.
