Onam, the harvest festival of Kerela features a grand feast called Onam Sadhya. To add something sweet to the elaborate, you can make banana halwa with this traditional recipe.
5-6 ripe bananas 1 cup jaggery 1/4 cup ghee 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder 1/4 cup cashew nuts 1/4 cup raisins
Peel the bananas and chop them into small pieces.
Heat some ghee and add in banana pieces. Keep stirring till the banana caramelises.
Add jaggery and mix till the halwa thickens.
Stir in the cardamom powder, cashew nuts, and raisins.
Remove the heat and let the halwa cool. Serve warm or cold as per your preference.
