Halwas, often regarded as the comfort dessert of Indian cuisine is the ideal choice for a warming monsoon treat. It is even better when it packs a chocolate flavour on top of it and this easy recipe does just that.
1/2 cup sooji (semolina) 1/4 cup sugar 2 tbsp cocoa powder 2 cups milk 1/4 cup ghee 1/4 tsp cardamom powder Chopped nuts (optional)
Heat ghee in a pan, add sooji and roast until golden brown. In another pan, heat milk and sugar until sugar dissolves.
Mix cocoa powder with a little milk to make a paste. Add the milk mixture and cocoa paste to the roasted sooji.
Cook on low heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and the ghee separates. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
Garnish with chopped nuts if desired and serve warm.
