Durga Puja Special: A Bowl Of Creamy Chanar Payesh For Dessert

A popular Bengali sweet (mishti) made with cottage cheese and condensed milk, this rich and delicious payesh can be made with a handful of ingredients. Best enjoyed cold, the chanar payesh is a popular dish to feature on the bhoger thali for Durga Puja too.

INGREDIENTS

1 litre whole milk 1 can condensed milk 1 cup paneer, grated 2 cardamom pods, crushed 7-8 cashews, chopped 3-4 saffron strands

METHOD

Bring the milk to a boil in a pan and reduce it down to half before adding the condensed milk.

METHOD

Add the crushed cardamom and grated paneer to simmer until the mixture thickens further.

Throw in the chopped cashews and cool completely before garnishing with saffron. Serve cold.
