Drumstick soup also known as murungakkai soup is one of the healthiest soups. Drumsticks are high in vitamins and antioxidants which help cure the common cold and flu like my drumstick leaves soup. Here is how to make this soup:

Ingredients

2 Drumsticks 1 Drumstick blossoms (optional) 1 Drumstick leaves 1 Tomato 1 tsp Butter ½ tsp Cumin seeds 1 cup Dal stock Salt to taste Black pepper to taste

Step 1

Wash the drumsticks; trim and chop them into finger-long pieces. 

Step 2

Place in a pan with 2 cups of water and boil until soft. 

Step 3

Squeeze out the pulp or scoop it out with a spoon. Keep the pulp aside. 

Step 4

Discard the woody parts. Put the pulp in a mixer and blend until smooth.

Step 5

Chop the tomato into small pieces.

Step 6

Heat the butter in a pan and add the cumin seeds. When they splutter, add the drumstick blossoms, drumstick leaves, and tomato. Add the dal stock and allow it to boil.

Step 7

Cook until the mixture is homogeneous, stirring continuously.

Step 8

Add the drumstick pulp and mix well. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
