Don’t Miss These 6 Spices When Making Chicken Soup

By Jasmine Kaur

If you love chicken soup as much as we do, you’d know that the magic happens in the spice corner. A few spices are really important to amp up the flavour.

Dried Rosemary

For the unaware, rosemary is a flavourful herb that goes well with chicken in any form. Be it grilled, roasted, fried or even in chicken soup. It has a piney and woody taste.

Garlic Powder

Interestingly, garlic powder is considered more suitable than fresh garlic cloves for chicken soup as it lends a richer and stronger flavour to the concoction.

Paprika

Lending your soup a rich, smoky flavour and a spicy kick, paprika is made from crushed and ground peppers and amps up the spiciness of your chicken soup.

Onion Powder

Tired of chopping onions? Use onion powder instead. It gives the same sweetness of onions and deepens the flavour of the soup even more

Bay Leaf

While bay leaf doesn’t have a distinct taste, it imparts a subtle, woody flavour to the chicken soup by binding the flavours of all the ingredients in it.

Dried Thyme

Giving your soup a fragrant, earthy flavour, thyme is strong and should not be overdone. However, it’s versatility makes it ideal for chicken soup.
